Inspired by the Teachings of St. Hildegard of Bingen
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is an herb that grows abundantly in the wild across Europe and North America, including throughout much of the United States. Often found in meadows, prairies, and along country roads, this humble yet extraordinary plant has been valued for centuries in traditional herbal medicine.
Traditionally, yarrow has been appreciated for its anti-inflammatory, astringent, digestive, and wound-supporting properties. It contains naturally occurring plant compounds, including flavonoids, tannins, and aromatic constituents.
St. Hildegard's Teachings on Yarrow
In Physica, St. Hildegard describes yarrow as an herb with particular value for both external wounds and internal injuries:
"Yarrow also has distinguished and subtle powers for wounds."
She recommends gently cooking yarrow in water and applying the warm herb over a cloth covering a wound. As healing progresses, she describes placing the herb directly on the affected area.
For internal injuries, Hildegard recommends powdered yarrow taken first with warm water and later with warm wine.
Yarrow and the Connection Between Body and Soul
"Yarrow, which grows abundantly in the wild, has anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, internal bleeding-stopping, digestive juice-stimulating, and antispasmodic properties.
It is recommended as an excellent supportive treatment alongside surgical procedures. Drinking yarrow tea for several days before a planned operation and during hospitalization significantly reduces the risk of possible complications and shortens the wound-healing period. These properties of yarrow have been known in natural medicine for many years.
However, the results of the latest research into the properties of yarrow suggest that when St. Hildegard wrote about an 'internal injury,' she did not limit this expression solely to physical wounds.
At the Fourth Hildegard Congress, Dr. Strehlow presented evidence of yarrow's beneficial effects also on the 'wounded' psyche.
Every tragic experience causes the 'internal constriction' described by St. Hildegard, leaving a psychological wound that requires healing just as much as a wound to the body.
Hildegard repeatedly and emphatically stressed that suffering of the soul weakens the body, contributes to a decline in immunity, and often becomes the cause of serious physical ailments.
In light of Dr. Strehlow's research findings, yarrow emerges as one of the most effective Hildegardian psychotherapeutic remedies, with applications including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)."

From Poland’s Naturally Pristine Regions
Nature’s Gifts (Dary Natury), the producer of our newly introduced herbs, sources plant materials from organic growers in Poland, in regions of natural purity where the surrounding environment remains largely untouched by industrial development.
The herbs are carefully dried and kept in relatively large pieces to preserve as much of their natural goodness as possible. Keeping leaves, flowers, and other plant parts more intact helps protect their delicate aromatic compounds and essential oils, some of which can be lost when herbs are crushed or finely ground too early.
Traditional Preparation — Yarrow Herbal Tea
Pour one cup (approximately 250 ml) of boiling water over the yarrow herb. Cover and allow it to steep for approximately 10–15 minutes, then strain.
A small additional pinch of yarrow may be added to the prepared infusion, according to traditional Hildegardian practice.
Traditional Hildegardian Use
Traditional Hildegardian literature describes drinking yarrow tea twice daily for two weeks, followed by a preparation of approximately 20 ml of warm, diluted wine with 2–3 pinches of powdered yarrow.
Important precautions: Consult a healthcare professional before using yarrow medicinally, particularly if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medications, have a bleeding disorder, or are preparing for surgery. Avoid yarrow if you have an allergy to plants in the Asteraceae family, such as chamomile, ragweed, or daisies. Do not apply nonsterile herbal preparations to open wounds.
