Viriditas: Divine Greening Power
This summer, as many of us pause to rest, we invite you to embrace the sacred principle of Viriditas.
A word coined by St. Hildegard herself, Viriditas refers to the “greening power” of God, the vitality that pulses through all of creation - plants, bodies, and souls alike. It is the force of renewal, growth, and joyful aliveness.
🌱
How to Cultivate Viriditas This Summer:
☀️
Rise early and step outside before the day’s noise sets in. Feel the morning sun on your skin. Ground barefoot.
🥗
Eat foods that are alive - spelt, herbs, fruits, chestnuts, fennel - simple and vibrant.
🌀
Breathe deeply of nature, even if it’s a small patch of garden or a
tree-lined street.
💛
Let your heart be warmed by sacred friendship, laughter, and music.
In these moments, you are not just resting. You are receiving medicine.
Let this summer be a time of greening, of becoming whole again, of rekindling the vitality God placed within you.
“O Holy Spirit, you are the greening power, awakening and re-awakening all that lives.”
– St. Hildegard of Bingen
